Anna Brees

Making The News

Anna Brees worked as a journalist in regional TV newsrooms for 11 years, here she talks in detail about that experience and why in 2017, she was drawn to teaching others professional broadcast skills, rather than returning to the newsroom. ‘I was offered a full-time job back at the BBC but decided to turn it down, because I believe journalism is about the pursuit of truth. Now we have the technology and the platforms on which to broadcast, my new purpose in life was to mobilise many voices not just front a few.’ ‘Having trained to become a psychotherapist, I became far more aware of my ego and agenda. With that introspection, I decided it was wrong to go back into TV news, while I could empower others instead.’ Anna began her training business in September 2017 and has since trained over 500 students. She’s recently transferred this training online – which is available on Udemy and Vimeo.
